Sproing
A downloadable game for Windows, macOS, and Linux
This game was developed over the length of a week by a small team of students and one mentor from MakeShift Robotics (FRC 4039/ FTC 18433) for the First / WPI Game Jam 2020
A lone Darwinian astronomer reclining on a desolate mountaintop on the third planet from the star Rubberbandium looked up into the night sky. As she took in the enormity of the cosmos, a sudden flicker of flame appeared just above the western horizon. Her discovery would set in motion the largest planet defense project in the known multi-verse.
At that very same moment, the Academy in Einstime (the Darwinian's neighbors across the Elastocific Ocean) captured an image of the burning inevitability in their telescopes. Utilizing Einstime's advanced knowledge of gravitational forces, their best scientists determined that there was a 99.4039% probability that the flamy thing in the sky would hit their planet and wipe out a hefty portion of their populations. The Einstimes were a peaceful race and did not have space flight capability. They shared their calculations with the Darwinians who had advanced rocketry. To save their planet these once-foes would have to band together and use their strengths and knowledge to prevent disaster.
Together, with not enough time or money or resources, they scienced the heck out of it co-operatively developed a brand new state-of-the-art hyper-focused-augmented-beam-laser-energy-string technology: the SPROING!
But will their desperate gambit work, it falls to your skills as you represent Darwinian and Einstime and attempt to prevent the flickery flame spheroid things from hitting the planet? May Co-operation be with you!
Take turns placing elasto-strings between adjacent stars of your color to prevent the yellow ball from dropping off the bottom of the screen. If you keep the ball in play for the duration of the timer you win that level and can advance. The ball obeys the laws of physics such that the angle of incidence equals the angle of reflection.
